Stock Dividends: Your Annual Passive Income?
For those of you who want to go on vacation, BBRI is also one of the issuers who is always diligent in sharing profits. In 2022, BBRI will distribute dividends of 174/share.
What we need to know, stock dividends are included in the regular passive income that you get as a long-term owner of a good company. This is profit sharing while prices can increase from year to year.
Calculating whether or not the dividend is attractive by comparing the dividend you receive with your average purchase price (not the current market price, yes) is called the dividend yield (DY).
So, the simple formula is like this:
DY (Dividend Yield) = Dividend per share / Your purchase price.
So, this DY is your Passive Income Rate (PIR) .
Let's count it:
- If you save shares every month throughout 2021, then your average price is +- 4000. With a dividend of 174, then your DY is 174/4000 = 4.35%. How high is the deposit?
- If you bought it during the 2020 pandemic crisis at a price of 2500, then the DY = 174 / 2500 = +- 7%. Which high bond coupon is the same?
- If you bought it 10 years ago at 700 and still keep it until now, then your DY will reach = 174 / 700 = 25%. Already this cool are you sure you want to sell?
Remember, all of this doesn't count capital gains. Try now to calculate if you buy the shares for 100 million or even you can own these shares for the price of your car. Do you enjoy long-term investment in good companies?
So, for blue chip companies, the stock saving strategy is perfect. It's like buying a house in installments, little by little it will be paid off, the same goes for saving stocks.
Things you need to remember when you are saving shares:
- The earlier you invest, the higher your Passive Income Rate (PIR) .
- The earlier you invest, the greater your chances of achieving what you want in the future.
- The better you choose a superior company, the higher your passive income rate (PIR) and Capital Gain (CG) .
Saving stocks is not talking about how fast you can make a profit, but how consistent we are to achieve what we hope for.
So, how much passive income has your portfolio generated? Who knows you can retire early from passive income, right?
